Canadian mother of four dies after cosmetic surgery in Turkey

March 9, 2026

A Canadian mother of four has died after undergoing cosmetic surgery procedures in Turkey, news outlets are reporting.

According to reports, 35-year-old Jessika Chagnon Gailloux of Saint-Lin–Laurentides, Que., arrived in Antalya on March 2 to undergo aesthetic surgery. She was admitted to a private hospital in the province’s Kepez district, where she underwent breast and abdominal tightening surgery, commonly called a tummy tuck.

Reports say the procedures were successfully completed without complications, but that afterward her condition worsened. She is said to have died around 4 p.m. Saturday.

Local reports say homicide detectives attended the hospital, and that a crime scene examination and a review by the prosecutor’s office were conducted.

“During the checks by the crime scene investigation teams, it was learned that Gailloux had no cuts, stab wounds, or gunshot wounds on her body other than surgical stitch marks related to the operation,” police said in a news release, the Toronto Sun reported . “Investigators are currently trying to determine whether she had consumed narcotic substances before she died.”

Toxicology tests could take weeks. Gailloux’s body was transferred to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the exact cause of death through an autopsy. Officials also took statements from a friend who had traveled to Turkey with her. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Gailloux’s four children.

“Jessika was an extraordinary woman and a deeply loving mother,” the organizer of the page wrote. “Her sudden loss leaves a huge void in the lives of all who loved her, but especially in the lives of her children.

I would like to help, in my own way, to offer them some support and security for the future. That’s why I decided to launch this fundraising campaign for them.”
