Most Canadians want the government to ban or regulate the use of algorithms to set prices, a new poll suggests — with half of respondents saying the practice is unfair.
OTTAWA — With prices at the pump spiking due to the war in Iran, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is calling for the government to zero out gas taxes for the rest of the year.
The party estimates that the plan would save Canadians about 25 cents a litre when they fill up their cars. The Tories say that would bring Canadian prices roughly in line with the price Americans are paying at the pump.

The Tories say their plan eliminates the Fuel Excise Tax at 10 cents per litre, the Clean Fuel Standard at seven cents per litre, and the GST at eight cents per litre.
