Deaths of 5 homeless Montrealers in 7 months prompt Quebec coroner inquiry

Quebec coroner Stéphanie Gamache will lead a public inquiry into the deaths of five unhoused people, which took place over the past seven months in Montreal. The city’s mayor, who was in tears in late March while announcing the deaths of two people experiencing homelessness, says the final report will include recommendations for authorities aimed at preventing such occurrences.
A 43-year-old man from Carleton Place was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Ontario Provincial Police said.
