Toronto police use advanced DNA analysis to identify man who drowned in Lake Ontario in 1992

More than 30 years after an unknown man drowned in Lake Ontario, Toronto police say they have determined his identity using advanced forensic DNA analysis, part of a citywide project to pinpoint the identities of 31 deceased people.
The Carney government plans to make legislative changes to allow law enforcement to search and seize Canadians’ mail. The proposed legislative change is buried in the 2026 spring economic update.
