Prime Minister Mark Carney has sent invitations to 100 of the biggest investment firms in the world. He's pitching an Invest in Canada Summit this fall to unlock trillions of dollars in investments in Canada.

Canada is the first non-European country to attend these meetings, which have taken place twice a year since they began after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

There are currently nine vacant seats in the Senate, with six more senators due to retire by the end of 2026. Prime Minister Mark Carney has not appointed any since taking office.
