Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Mon. April 20th, 2026

April 20, 2026

Last Summer, the City of Ottawa permitted alcohol consumption at 8 city-owned parks. Overall, it appeared to be a great success, as Ottawa Bylaw only received a single enforcement call at those designated sites. Mind you, they did get 31 calls about alcohol consumption in areas where it was not permitted. That brings us to this Summer, where the project is going to be expanded even further. Kristy Cameron gathers instant reaction from Valerie Keyes in Hour 1. She is the President of Mothers Against Drunk Driving Ottawa. Meantime, a group of Orleans parents have petitioned the Ford government to address issues with school drinking water, both locally and across the province. CFRA’s Andrew Pinsent delivers the details. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
