Last Summer, the City of Ottawa permitted alcohol consumption at 8 city-owned parks. Overall, it appeared to be a great success, as Ottawa Bylaw only received a single enforcement call at those designated sites. Mind you, they did get 31 calls about alcohol consumption in areas where it was not permitted. That brings us to this Summer, where the project is going to be expanded even further. Meantime, a group of Orleans parents have petitioned the Ford government to address issues with school drinking water, both locally and across the province. The B.C. Provincial Health Office is reporting that one of four high risk individuals who was on the cruise ship M.V. Hondius and self-isolating on Vancouver Island has tested presumptive positive for the Andes hantavirus. The person was transported to hospital for assessment and care on May 14, according to a statement released by the Public Health Agency of Canada released on Saturday.
