Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Tues. April 28th, 2026

April 28, 2026

We’ve been asking for your thoughts on the $233 million police training facility that, as of right now, is being halted. Ottawa’s Police Services Board is awaiting further information, and the most affordable plans for local taxpayers, before it plans to proceed any further. An agreement was in place until Monday’s board meeting when OPS requested funding approval for preliminary work on the new project. Alta Vista councillor Marty Carr asked for the deferral, while Police Chief Eric Stubbs defended the OPS’ request and emphasized that time is money for this facility to be built. So where do you stand on this debate? Guest host Andrew Pinsent sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Meantime, Queen Camilla and King Charles have arrived in Washington for a 4-day visit, as the latter addressed U.S. Congress earlier today. The visit comes on the 250th anniversary of America’s Declaration of Independence from British rule, as Charles highlighted the special relationship through some traditional British humour. However, the Royal visit also comes on the heels of recent tensions between the United States and the United Kingdom, particularly over the Iran War. We dig deeper in Hour 3 with Eric Ham, a former Congressional staffer and a present-day U.S. political analyst for CTV News.
