Vancouver police jail guard sentenced to house arrest after assaulting detainees

A Vancouver Police Department special constable, serving as a jail guard, has been sentenced to six months of house arrest after pleading guilty to assaulting two detainees in January 2023. Omar Ahmed Flores was charged a year after the assaults, one of which involved a 17-year-old Indigenous girl.
