Nowadays, news outlets like print media and digital media keep us informed. Several generations ago, if you wanted to make a public announcement, a 'town crier' would ring a bell and read it out loud. It's a lost art in today's complicated world, but a weekend competition is keeping history alive. This year, Ottawa is playing host to the annual Ontario Guild of Town Criers Competition, with the field of play running from 12PM to 5PM on Saturday and Sunday. Jenn Olivero is the President of the Ontario Guild of Town Criers, and she has over 20 years of experience under her belt. She shows Kristy Cameron how it’s done on Ottawa Now.
