Educational assistant shortages impacting support for special needs students, auditor general finds

The number of Ontario students with special education needs is growing faster than overall enrolment, and some schools do not have enough educational assistants either full-time or on a daily basis, the province's auditor general has found.
Justice Jane Kelly stated that 73-year-old Eva Samonas, the primary caregiver for 96-year-old Vasiliki Atanasovksi, had a legal duty to her mother that she failed to perform.
