There are big changes coming to Ontario’s auto insurance this Summer. As of Canada Day, 9 out of 12 Standard Auto Accident Insurance Benefits will become optional safety nets. And while these new à-la-carte options are meant to give consumers more choice, some experts worry that Ontarians will opt out of crucial coverage to save money, which could cost them greatly in the event of an accident. Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Governor of Pennsylvania Josh Shapiro signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that they say will deepen economic ties between the Canadian province and the U.S. state.
Shapiro condemned U.S. President Donald Trump's rhetoric on Canada, calling it 'reckless and disrespectful' and said U.S. tariffs are a threat to both economies.
