Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Wed. June 3rd, 2026

June 3, 2026

You might have noticed a porta-potty presence in some of Ottawa’s city parks these days, but the city councillor for Capital Ward says it’s still not enough. A few years ago, Shawn Menard brought a motion to City Council, calling for more porta-potty installations. And now, finally, it’s being rolled out. He joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 2. Then, we check in with Paul Villeneuve, the Co-President of the Ottawa Patriots Baseball Club. For the past 11 years, with the exception of last season, the baseball club has paid out-of-pocket for a porta-potty where they play ball. That’s at Tauvette Park, located west of Orléans in Blackburn Hamlet. He wants to see more action from the municipality as well, but is optimistic that future progress is around the corner. And speaking of city-owned facilities, the City of Ottawa is at a crossroads with its aging infrastructure, not to mention the realities of its financial situation. We opened that wound on Monday with former city councillor Alex Cullen. Today, we pick the brain of Knoxdale-Merivale councillor Sean Devine.
