Cambridge, Ont., mayor 'stands by' stopping teen's speech at Pride event

Cambridge, Ont.,Mayor Jan Liggett issued a statement on Friday after her office received backlash after the city's Pride flag raising event on Monday. Liggett was seen on video cutting off a teenager who was giving a speech during the event. Liggett says she stopped the teen from saying a part of the speech that hadn't been vetted by city staff.
A coalition of groups have sent a letter to Premier Christine Fréchette, reiterating the call for the province to hold a public inquiry into racism and racial profiling within Montreal police. This demand is in connection with the allegations of racism that led to the police force investigating 16 officers at a police station in the city's Montréal-Nord borough.
