Upcoming overnight weekend work on Highway 417 at Pinecrest Road to accelerate lane reopening

June 13, 2026
All lanes on Highway 417, between Woodroffe Avenue and Pinecrest Road, will reopen by Monday, June 22 after scheduled overnight work.

Weather permitting, overnight work on Highway 417 between Woodroffe Avenue and Pinecrest Road will take place this coming weekend to accelerate construction in the centre median. This work will allow all east and west bound lanes to reopen earlier than planned, by June 22.

Overnight work is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 20 from 9 pm to 8 am on Sunday, June 21 in the westbound direction, with additional ramp closures beginning at 11 pm Saturday. Overnight work will then take place on Sunday, June 21 from 9 pm to 5 am on Monday, June 22, with additional ramp closures beginning at 11 pm.

During this time, crews will be relocating temporary concrete barriers and undertaking line painting. All 417 lanes east and westbound as well as highway ramps will reopen at 5 am on Monday, June 22.

This work is weather dependent. In the event of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled in coordination with the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and City of Ottawa Traffic Services.

On Saturday night, the following traffic impacts will be in place:

  • Overnight lane closures on westbound Highway 417 between Woodroffe Avenue and Pinecrest Road
  • Closure of the westbound Highway 417 on-ramp from Woodroffe Avenue
  • Closure of the westbound Highway 417 on-ramp from northbound Pinecrest Road
  • Closure of the westbound Highway 417 off-ramp at Pinecrest Road
  • No additional impacts to eastbound Highway 417 lanes are planned

On Sunday night, the following traffic impacts will be in place:

  • Overnight lane closures on eastbound Highway 417 between Richmond Road and Pinecrest/Greenbank Road
  • Closure of the eastbound Highway 417 on-ramp from northbound Richmond Road
  • Closure of the eastbound Highway 417 on-ramp from southbound Richmond Road
  • Closure of the eastbound Highway 417 on-ramp from southbound Pinecrest Road
  • Closure of the eastbound Highway 417 off-ramp at Pinecrest Road
  • No additional impacts to westbound Highway 417 lanes are planned

Motorists travelling north and south on Woodroffe Avenue at Highway 417, and north on Pinecrest Road/Greenbank Road at Highway 417, should anticipate impacts to traffic during the work.

This project has caused significant delays, especially for westbound travellers. The City of Ottawa recognizes the impact of this work and appreciates the patience of residents as work was accelerated to reopen the lanes five weeks ahead of the original schedule.

The Detroit-based trucking family that has owned and operated the Ambassador Bridge between Detroit and Windsor since the 1970s appears to have found powerful backing for their business interests. The billionaire head of that family is Matthew Moroun. He made a million-dollar campaign donation to MAGA Inc. back in January, according to campaign finance reports. In early February, Trump pushed back on the opening of the bridge, saying on Feb. 9 that he would block it. The $6.4 billion, Canadian-taxpayer funded Gordie Howe bridge could be seen as a threat to Maroun’s bottom line. The...

On September 16, 2007, Nelly Arcan appeared on Tout le monde en parle, a popular weekly panel show in Quebec with a viewership of 2 million people. The thirty-four-year-old writer was promoting her third book, Breakneck. Her debut, Whore, published in 2001, is a furious, stream-of-consciousness, autofictional rendering of Arcan’s experiences as an escort. It...
