Kingston had been placed under a red-alert tornado warning on June 30, with the Northern Tornadoes Project confirming an EF0 and EF1 tornado hit the reagion.

The expanded scope of the project and a more refined design has the Werklund Centre's modernization cost estimated at $345 million, up $75 million from previous estimates.
