Hour 1 of Ottawa Now for Fri. July 10th, 2026

July 10, 2026

Thursday’s late-night fireworks display near LeBreton Flats has sparked anger and confusion in nearby residential areas. The unused fireworks from the rained-out Canada Day celebrations were handed over by the feds to Bluesfest organizers, and were intended to start the party off right. And while they only lasted for less than 15 minutes, the big pet peeve is that nearby residents weren’t notified it was happening. CTV’s Josh Marano joins Kristy Cameron in Hour 1. Meantime, Canadians who bought beef after 2015 could soon get a share of a nearly $8 million proposed price-fixing settlement with JBS and National Beef. Joining us with the details is Mike von Massow, a food economist at the University of Guelph. But first, we bring you up to speed on today’s top headlines.
