Gun licence applications have surged in the Toronto area since 2016

The number of people in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area applying for their firearms licences has increased significantly in the last decade, most notably in Peel region. It’s not clear what exactly is behind the increase, though it appears — at least in part — to be linked to growing interest in shooting sports.
A black bear that mauled a three-year-old in Maple Ridge, B.C., is still loose, and the bear police shot was not it. Anaiyah Lekei was outside her family’s home in the 12300 block of 240 Street on Sunday morning when the bear attacked her, Global News reported. She was airlifted to B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver and underwent surgery. Two days later, the bear has not been found.
