Recovery-focused community information sessions planned for residents impacted by the July 1 extreme weather event

The City will be hosting several more in-depth community information sessions on July 17 and 18.

As the City begins to transition from response activities into recovery, an additional round of information sessions is being planned to help residents navigate the next phase of recovery and rebuilding.

City staff and its partners, including the Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, and the Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode Community Resource Centre (NROCRC) will be present to support the community by answering questions on various topics and providing support related to the extreme weather event and recovery, including:

  • Community health and resource centres
  • Information on counselling and wellness supports
  • Health and safety when cleaning flooded homes
  • Insurance and case management experts
  • Financial assistance and grant programs
  • Waste disposal

Upcoming information sessions:

  • Friday, July 17 at Maki House, 19 Leeming Drive, 10 am to 2 pm
  • Friday, July 17 at the Nepean Sportsplex, Richmond room, 1701 Woodroffe Avenue, 4 to 8 pm
  • Saturday, July 18 at Ben Franklin Place, 101 Centrepointe Drive, 11 am to 3 pm

How to get there

Free public parking is available onsite for those travelling by car to the information sessions.

For residents attending the information session at Maki House on Friday, July 17, a free direct OC Transpo (Para Transpo) shuttle will operate between Bayshore Station, Stop B and Maki House. The shuttle will begin departures from Bayshore Station at 10 am and operate approximately every 30 minutes for return trips throughout the session.

Visit the OC Transpo Travel Planner for more information. If you are unable to take conventional transit (buses and O-Train), Para Transpo is available between 6 am and midnight.

Details on the information sessions and other extreme weather-related information and resources can be found online on the extreme weather event webpage.
