Wildfires have shut down two major highways from Metro Vancouver into the British Columbia Interior after a significant new blaze in the Fraser Canyon triggered an urgent plea for residents to flee the area around Boston Bar.

RCMP say they are investigating the homicide of a 12-year-old Edmonton boy after remains were found in a rural area of northern Alberta. In a news release on Sunday, police said Athabasca RCMP officers responded to a report of human remains found on Thursday, Aug. 6, just before 3:30 a.m.
