In the face of ballooning population forecasts, the City of Ottawa commissioned a study that recommended opening up an area of rural land almost the size of Barrhaven to suburban development.

The province says it has hired more than 4,700 health-care workers since October of 2023, and that almost 1,500 of the new additions are nurses.
