Incumbency is King

Is this really any better than a lawn sign?

How will technology affect future elections

When only 40% of eligible voters actually vote, they base their votes on name recognition, incumbents have budgets to promote themselves, have other incumbents to support them, incumbents have a 95% lock on re election. Of the 100 or so challengers last election exactly none were successful. It becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. Technology can make a differemce for challengers at minimal cost. They can promote Youtube videos. A challenger may now post informative videos that can substitute for a face to face meeting at the door.

While these techniques are also available to incumbents they level the playing field. Challengers need name recognition, you need people to see your opinions and assess your qualities.

The QR code gives them easy access. Good luck in 2026 and may the best candidates win. The future of Ottawa depends on it.
