WestJet to begin parking planes ahead of possible strike

WestJet says it's still bargaining with flight attendants in hopes of a deal, but the company is beginning to keep planes on the ground as a necessary measure to protect travellers and their operations. In two internal emails from WestJet obtained by CBC News, the airline says it offered substantial wage increases and compensation for duties before and after flights to its flight attendants.

The province says it has hired more than 4,700 health-care workers since October of 2023, and that almost 1,500 of the new additions are nurses.
