After New Ways to Bus, which included lingering downtown after work (so as to spread out rush hour because our transit isn’t ready to handle return-to-office volumes), we are moving on to New Ways to Park Illegally, because there aren’t enough spaces downtown. An evacuation order was issued for several streets in downtown Halifax after police located a vehicle they said contained a propane tank and flammable liquid.

A man has been charged in connection with a bomb threat against the U.S. Consulate in Halifax, after a propane tank and several containers believed to contain flammable materials were found inside his vehicle, which was parked nearby. On Tuesday morning, Halifax Regional Police issued a brief statement noting that Ali Assakereh, 54, would be appearing in Provincial Court today to face charges of uttering threats and public mischief.
