Clinics, technicians question Alberta's new self-referral method for health tests

Some Alberta medical clinics are taking a wait-and-see approach to the province's new program that lets patients bypass their doctor and privately book diagnostic imaging tests.
The Haynes family from Biggar, Sask., says they tried without success to get their three-year-old son admitted to hospital in North Battleford, Swift Current and Saskatoon. They're frustrated that a 235-kilometre ambulance ride to Prince Albert left them with a $1,300 bill.
