Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Thurs. July 9th, 2026

July 9, 2026

It’s been 8 days since the Canada Day floods ravaged through Canada’s Capital. A whopping 118 millimetres of rain fell from the sky that day, leading to sewer surcharging and an onslaught of flooded basements. The original number said 4,500 flooded basements, but that’s only the reported damage to 3-1-1. And as we hear from the City of Ottawa and the Ford government, frustrated residents aren’t satisfied with the level of response to this significant weather event. Which side should shelter most of the blame, and what needs to happen next? Kristy Cameron sifts through the CFRA textboard and tackles today’s Question of the Day. Despite all the doom and gloom, it’s a Thursday afternoon, and the sun is starting to peak out a little bit. So we try to lighten things up in Hour 3 with Carson Arthur – also known as Kristy’s favourite gardening expert!
