Hour 3 of Ottawa Now for Tues. September 1st, 2026

September 1, 2026

The Ford government has opened student and family support offices across Ontario – services that were already installed at five provincially-run school boards. But now, all 72 school boards across the province will have them. We check in with René Jansen in de Wal, who is the President of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association. Then, we turn things over to the mighty CFRA Nation, as we tackle today’s Question of the Day. Have you been successful in getting answers from your principal, or perhaps your local trustee? And if you’re not a parent, who do you trust to run the school system? That’s coming up in Hour 3. Plus, if Canada was defeated and occupied by another country, would you give in or would you fight back? We dig deeper with Thomas Homer-Dixon – an author, social scientist, and Executive Director of the Cascade Institute. He wrote a fascinating piece in The Globe And Mail about the durability and resilience of Canadian patriotism, and the lengths to which Canadians are willing to go.
