$800,000 awarded to family of girl burned by McDonald's chicken nugget, Florida jury rules

A jury in Florida has ruled that McDonald's must pay $800,000 in damages to the family of a girl that who was allegedly burned by chicken nuggets.

Jenny Jasmine and her two daughters have lived in three hotel rooms since April 2025. A fire in one hotel destroyed the family's few belongings, forcing them to relocate. The City of Ottawa houses more than 660 families in hotel rooms at a cost of nearly $30 million.
