Mark Carney shows his creds on the Daily Show

Mark Carney’s interview with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show last night set the stage for his Liberal leadership campaign in very convincing fashion (see below). So convincing that former BC Premiere Christy Clark announced today that she has decided not to run for the leadership. 

On the economy, he was convincing. On climate change, he demonstrated his understading of where the problems lie. On income inequality, inflation and high interest rates he described a path forward. Throughout the interview he demonstrated his depth of knowledge and deep understanding of how everything is linked and works together. He professionally handled uncomfortable questions and showed the warmth of his smile in doing so.

Granted, Jon Stewart isn’t a tough interview, but Jon also isn’t a push over either. He doesn’t do anyone’s bidding and did challenge Carney at times. But, Carney handled it all with the grace and professionalism that the position of Prime Minister requires. 

It was an impressive first outing.
