The call comes shortly after the much-publicized death of Prashant Sreekumar, who died on Dec. 22 after spending eight hours in the emergency room at Edmonton’s Grey Nuns Community Hospital. On Wednesday, The Globe and Mail learned that he was actually one of three people who died in the Grey Nuns ER that day.
After making some loud noise leading up to the Ontario Hockey League trade deadline, the Ottawa 67's were quiet in the immediate hours leading up to Friday's noon cut-off for moves. Read More

— The federal Public Safety department says
16 people took part in a pilot of its firearms compensation program that resulted in 25 banned guns being turned over and destroyed.

Yesterday, it took my 78 year old elderly mother 21+ hours to be admitted to the Misericordia in Edmonton. She fell at home and believed she broke her leg. She was kept on a stretcher in a hallway for 15 hours then moved to the regular waiting room for 6 hours before she was finally seen by a doctor. She has a history of strokes, kidney disease, diabetes, and heart disease. For 21+ hours she was forced to lie in agonizing wait, crying, slipping in and out of consciousness due to uncontrollable pain. I was denied giving her access to a bed pan and she was forced to try to stand resulting in her falling twice. After finally being admitted and assessed they now believe she will require surgery and we are waiting on a MRI. I have no words. I am fearful for my mom and all those in dire need of emergency services. We are failing. Utterly failing.
Wow. I’m so sorry to hear it. I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals with my late mother so I understand, how frustrating it is to hurry up and wait, but that sounds excessively bad.
