Ontario court opens door to punitive damages in forever chemicals class action

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has opened the door to punitive damages in a class-action lawsuit regarding contamination from “forever chemicals” called per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on people’s private property.
The mayors of Brampton and Mississauga are pushing back on a Ford government plan to amalgamate 36 conservation authorities. They say the move will slow housing approvals.
