Hour 2 of Ottawa Now for Mon. June 29th, 2026

June 29, 2026

A warning to our listeners that portions of Hour 2 are deeply disturbing. Two children have been found dead in a double murder-suicide, according to the Ottawa Police Service. At around 10 o’clock this morning, officers conducted a wellness check at a home on Mandevilla Crescent in Ottawa’s Findlay Creek neighbourhood. Police say – tragically – a 7-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were found deceased. An investigation is now underway, and authorities say it is very complex. Guest host Chris Holski digs deeper with Chris Lewis, a former OPP Commissioner. On a lighter note, Canada Day is a few days away, and plenty of local events are unfolding on July 1st. We take a ride to Barrhaven, where preparations are underway for the Mattamy Homes Canada Day celebrations.

Prime Minister Mark Carney told National Post during a recent press conference that non-renewal on...

The issue of the finished-but-not-yet-opened Gordie Howe International Bridge continues to create ripples on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border, and far from the Michigan-Ontario crossing that is its epicentre. Among the more recent statements comes from Mike Levin, the Democratic incumbent from California’s 49th congressional district, serving in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019. In a video posted to social media, Levin says: “There’s a brand new bridge between Detroit and Canada that is finished, it’s ready, and it’s sitting there empty because Donald Trump will not...
