Bump up the security for Carney

August 23, 2026
Carney has demonstrated the diplomatic skill but he is vulnerable to pure US brute force

The US has a history of crushing its adversaries. Allende was assassinated, Hussein overthrown, Gadafi ousted, even in Ukraine, the Maidan uprising was US coordinated

Carney is likely the best educated, most experienced and respected leader in the world today and head and shoulders a better man than Trump.

The impasse is about loss of sovereignty.

The risk is real...America crushes its foes in the name of "national interests"

What will happen?

CIA assassination? NO!

The phrase “not above such tactics” is therefore accurate as a general historical observation.

The United States has shown it will employ them when decision-makers conclude the stakes justify the risk and cost.

What does not follow is that those tactics are applied indiscriminately or that they are the default response to every disagreement. The historical pattern is selective:The targets were governments Washington classified as hostile, unstable, or ideologically adversarial. They were not longstanding democratic allies bound by mutual-defense treaties (NATO, NORAD), deeply integrated economies, shared intelligence arrangements, and continuous high-level diplomatic channels.

Canada sits in that second category. Even in the current sharp trade confrontation over tariffs and sovereignty language, the instruments in use remain economic retaliation, public rhetoric, and negotiation (or the refusal of it). There is no evidence of a shift to covert violence against the Canadian prime minister or government.

Acknowledging past U.S. willingness to use regime-change tools does not require assuming they will be used against every partner that resists pressure BUT IT IS STILL A CONCERN. The record shows capability and precedent under specific conditions; it does not show that those conditions currently exist with Canada, ...yet.

The dispute remains one of trade leverage and political will, not assassination.
