Mark Carney shows his creds on the Daily Show

January 14, 2025
Mark Carney on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart; Jan. 13, 2025

Mark Carney impresses in first major interview before campaign launch.  Christy Clark decides not to run.

Mark Carney’s interview with Jon Stewart on the Daily Show last night set the stage for his Liberal leadership campaign in very convincing fashion (see below). So convincing that former BC Premiere Christy Clark announced today that she has decided not to run for the leadership.

On the economy, he was convincing. On climate change, he demonstrated his understading of where the problems lie. On income inequality, inflation and high interest rates he described a path forward. Throughout the interview he demonstrated his depth of knowledge and deep understanding of how everything is linked and works together. He professionally handled uncomfortable questions and showed the warmth of his smile in doing so.

Granted, Jon Stewart isn’t a tough interview, but Jon also isn’t a push over either. He doesn’t do anyone’s bidding and did challenge Carney at times. But, Carney handled it all with the grace and professionalism that the position of Prime Minister requires.

It was an impressive first outing.

Mark Carney printed 700 billion British pounds in the UK

left, and then started advising Trudeau in 2020

who then printed $500 billion in Canada

This guy IS a money printing machine.

The Harper era wasa mixed bags with deficits and surpluses but much much larger deficits than surpluses.

The interview was baloney.

Carney's role as a central banker, something he devoted his entire life towards was underplayed but he is anything but an outsider.

The proposition by the lieberals is to coronate Carney to become unelected prime minister. He should be vetted through by election, and I suggest Vanier.

It will be noted that as a central banker he will:

1. Print money like there is no tomorrow
2. Devalue the currency cad
3. Increase inflation
4. Decimate the middle class

As prime minister he will be a disaster no matter how well qualified he is.

None of those things happened when he worked for Harper, so why would they happen now? He is super qualified. I’m confident he will do well. Vanier is a likely riding as you note.
