Open letter to Mr. Trudeau: Release Your Costing

September 16, 2015

This open letter from three NDP MPs was sent to Mr. Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal Party of Canada earlier this morning...

This letter is Authorized by UnpublishedOttawa.com.

Dear Mr. Trudeau:

As you know, today, the New Democratic Party of Canada will be living up to Tom Mulcair’s commitment to Canadians to provide them with our fiscal framework.

We will be presenting Canadians with a balanced, progressive plan that delivers on the priorities of middle-class families. Priorities like health and long-term care, building needed infrastructure, delivering one million affordable childcare spaces and lifting 200,000 seniors out of poverty.

To date, your party has refused to do the same. That’s not fair to Canadians. That’s not the transparency they deserve.

We are asking you to release your costing before this week’s debate on the economy in order to answer Canadians’ questions like, exactly how large your deficits will be in each of the next three years.

Many more questions remain unanswered. You owe it to Canadians to answer them.

We are asking that you be clear with Canadians and release your fiscal plan before tomorrow’s economic debate.

Thank you,

Andrew Thomson (Eglinton Lawrence)

Peggy Nash (Parkdale High-Park)

Guy Caron (Rimouski-Neigette—Témiscouata—Les Basques)
