Gatineau man guilty of murder for 2024 killing

A jury has found 58-year-old Philippe Cyr guilty of second-degree murder for the death of 35-year-old Maxim Bourgon-Frigon, who was found fatally injured on boulevard des Allumettières in September 2024.
Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to name the successor Tuesday to Mary Simon as Canada's 31st governor general since Confederation.

Ontario Provincial Police say they seized drugs with an estimated street value of $4.1 million during a major operation in Cornwall and Montreal last month. The amount of suspected fentanyl recovered equated to "approximately 200,000 potentially lethal street-level doses," according to police.
