A driver is facing charges under the Highway Traffic Act after a pedestrian was struck by an SUV on Friday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of Laurier Avenue and O’Connor Street, where the vehicle left the roadway and then crashed into a building after striking the pedestrian. And now, we are learning more about the off-duty firefighter that was credited with saving the pedestrian's life. CTV’s Katie Griffin joins us in Hour 4. The city is hoping to redirect $10 million of provincial money into building a safe and welcoming ByWard Market, including $300,000 to improve the pedestrian underpass at Rideau Street and Sussex Drive.
