Another heat warning is in store for Canada’s Capital this week, and it’s not letting up for most of it. How hot are we talking? At least 30 degrees Celsius, and as much as 45 degrees if you count the Humidex. In light of the latest stretch of flood damage, not everyone has access to a working A/C right now, and many are scrambling to get it back. How busy is the HVAC sector right now? Kristy Cameron picks the brain of Tim Suitter, the co-owner of Capital City Heating and Cooling. Meantime, businesses within walking distance of Ottawa Bluesfest say the annual festival has become one of their busiest times of the year. OTTAWA — Canada will not be taking part in cross-border celebrations to highlight the opening of the Gordie Howe International Bridge next week, the government has announced. “In light of trade action threatened by the United States earlier this week, it would be inappropriate to proceed with a celebratory event between the two countries,” said Jenna Ghassabeh, director of communications for the minister of housing and infrastructure, in a statement sent late Tuesday afternoon. CHARLOTTETOWN — Eight premiers said Tuesday they would start allowing people in their province to buy alcohol directly from producers anywhere in the country. “We’re thrilled today that other provinces have joined us,” said New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt, whose province amended its laws to allow residents to order alcohol directly from elsewhere in Canada last year.
