Ottawa Now - Iconic water tower in Smiths Falls set to meet its maker

An iconic water tower from 1924 has greeted drivers entering Smiths Falls from every direction for over a century. However, that local skyline will soon change forever, as City Council has voted to proceed with demolition. Officials call it a difficult decision, but say the cost to investigate and repair the out-of-service structure is simply too high. Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow joins Kristy Cameron on today’s Ottawa Now.

A group of merchants in the ByWard Market have banded together, calling on the City of Ottawa to backtrack its redevelopment plans for 55 ByWard Market Square.
