People looking for more space, lower housing costs and easier access to nature are helping drive population growth in Quebec’s Laurentians, according to the province’s latest demographic projections. While Montreal is expected to lose population over the next 25 years, municipalities in the Laurentians are preparing for more residents — and the housing and infrastructure needed to support them.

Mitchell helped create the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild, paving the way for the province's literary community. Those who knew him say it will be a huge loss.
