HST removal prompts surge in new home sales in Ontario in 2nd quarter: industry groups

New home sales in Ontario surged during the second quarter of this year thanks to the removal of the harmonized sales tax, according to new data released by two industry groups.
With transborder screen passenger traffic down by 8.7 per cent in July, the agency notes this number was 'well below the same month in 2024,' which was 12.5 per cent.
