According to statistics provided to CTV Ottawa, thousands of drivers have escaped potential tickets for photo radar and red-light camera infractions. This is due to either hidden, damaged, or missing license plates. City Hall says 15,480 vehicles have been able to avoid punishment within the last 3 months alone. If we circle back to 2024, a total of 71,238 speeders who were caught by cameras were rejected due to unreadable plates. Effective this September, RBC employees have been asked to be in the office 4 days per week. Prime Minister Mark Carney says Ottawa probably can't undertake a thorough overhaul of how municipalities are funded in the near future, with the federal government now focused on major projects. Carney addressed the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, which represents cities and towns that have lobbied Ottawa to give them more taxation powers to fund their operations.
