Sun shining bright on a foggy, wet day in Senators land

March 16, 2025
Ottawa river, covered in melting ice

It’s a dreary wet day in the Nation’s capital today. As I sit watching the fog dance across the ice of the Ottawa river (with Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: Winter playing in the background), I can’t help but only see the sun shinning bright once again on the city’s beloved hockey team: The Ottawa Senators.

With last night’s win in Toronto, the Senators dominated a lack luster Maple Leafs team that seems stuck in neutral here down the stretch. In winning six in a row and 7 of 8, the Senators have made up 10 points on the Leafs, and now find themselves only four points behind the Leafs and Lightning for 2nd and 3rd place in the Eastern division with 16 games to go.

All I can think of today is—We’re back baby!  The Ottawa Senators of old: Fast, pesky, skilled, tough, responsible, are, FINALLY, back.

It’s been a long eight years but no matter the outcome this year, this Senators team resembles the Sens of old.  Our signature game has returned.

The city is abuzz. The playoffs approach. The sun is shining bright in Senators land.
