The building that once housed Yangtze Restaurant in Ottawa’s Chinatown neighbourhood remains empty, as the property owner continues to search high and low for a new tenant. Yangtze permanently shuttered its doors in 2024 and the building has been dead-silent ever since. It comes as the Somerset Chinatown BIA issues an urgent call, with the neighbourhood in desperate need of an anchor business to host big events. OTTAWA — A new report by Canada’s spy agency says that China and India remain some of the main perpetrators of foreign interference and espionage against Canada, at a time when Prime Minister Mark Carney is seeking closer economic ties with both countries.
