Letter Endorsed by 30+ Eastern Ontario Mayors shows widespread support for Conservation Authorities

Conservation Authorities in Eastern Ontario issued this letter last week which I think is worth sharing because Bill 23 is lacking industry input and threatens to destroy natural habitats in Ontario unnecessarily. It was endorsed by 30+ newly election mayors. No matter what you may think about the importance of the environment, I hope we can all agree that the conservation authorities do a good job in maintaining Ontario's ecosystems. Ecosystems that support all life in Ontario. --James O'Grady

On November 17, 2022, more than thirty Ontario mayors endorsed a Conservation Authority letter to the province expressing concerns with Ontario provincial Bill 23, the "More Homes Built Faster Act". The letter outlines six key concerns with the bill and how the changes will negatively impact the environment, municipal governments, taxpayers and anyone living in flood prone areas.

The Conservation Authorities also provide recommendations to the province about how to improve Bill 23 and call for meaningful public consultations with industry experts and the public to identify solutions to increase housing without creating unintended and irreversible consequences.
