The Tiger and the Chicken: AGI in 2027

June 24, 2026

Suppose you adopt a nice little tiger cub (Artificial Intelligence). Currently, it’s only slightly bigger than a typical house cat, and it is incredibly cute, cuddly, and fascinating to watch. However, you must ensure that when this cub grows up into a fully mature tiger (Artificial General Super Intelligence), it never develops the desire to kill you. If it does, you will be dead in seconds, and there will be absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.

We are standing on the literal foothills of the technological singularity. The rise of autonomous AGI androids will fundamentally destroy the "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" worldview; as a socio-economic framework, rugged individualism or conservatism will reach a terminal limit.

I believe we will witness the emergence of AGI by Q4 2027. This shift isn't just about ones and zeros; it is about a digital neural network modeled directly after the human brain. Its arrival will mark the onset of a massive civilizational transition with terminal cultural implications. When you couple this cognitive power with quantum supercomputers operating on qubits, it becomes glaringly obvious that we need government-mandated safety protocols implemented immediately.

One of the things happening right now is that every single billionaire and trillion tech CEO is creating an AI - and soon-to-be AGI - company of their own. They want to control the technology by shaping it into a digital version of themselves, while completely dismissing any form of government safety regulation. Interestingly, none of them can work together, and they all despise each other.

We could see 95% unemployment. What does this mean for social cohesion and national unity? What does it mean for peace?

There is a 25% chance or greater that we are staring down the end of humanity as we know it. If you had a revolver with a four-shot cylinder and a single bullet inside, would you spin the chamber, point it at your head, and pull the trigger?

Ultimately, it is crucial to remember that you cannot control something more intelligent than yourself. If you want to know what life is like when you are no longer the apex predator, just ask a chicken.

I’ll also say that I can see two separate worlds of humanity emerging. One based in technology and one that completely abandons it, like in Battlestar Gallactica.

It does feel like we’re headed for a cliff and few seem to care. Can you explain how and why AGI may turn against us?
