Mark Carney's speech on Canadian Values in Quebec City

January 25, 2026
Headshot of Mark Carney, Canada's PM

Upon returning from the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, Mark Carney addressed a private audience in Quebec City to speak about Canadian history and the values that built our nation.

This speech was made partly to continue the momentum he built up in Davos, and partly to respond to Donald Trump's assertion in his WEF speech that Canada only exists because America allows it.

With so many memorable lines from Carney's Davos speech, we wonder if Trump realizes the punch line in this speech is a play on a beer commercial?
