They think it because it’s the lazy way out. They don’t really have to do anything. But at the same time nothing will happen because the private sector isn’t really interested in building affordable housing. Plus, the new regs in Ontario allowing for triplexes on any property does nothing to ensure the housing is affordable. Government needs to get involved. I suggest building new communities on cleaned contaminated land so it’s a win-win for everyone involved. We have lots of properties in our cities that are contaminated and need to be cleaned. Here’s a perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.
