The Israel—Hamas war through a Canadian lens

The Israel—Hamas war through a Canadian lens

Posted on February 25, 2024

Since October 7th, the world has been littered with horrific images from the attack by the terrorist group, Hamas on unsuspecting Israelis. The pushback from Israel has been strident and expanding. In the middle are five million Palestinians who have seen the destruction of their homes as the Israeli military pursues Hamas through GAZA. While the violence is half a world away from Canada, there has been a huge uptick in violence and anti-semitism here at home.

Our Unpublished Vote question asks:

Do you feel police in Canada are addressing the violence and antisemitism professionally?

Before voting, watch/listen to the podcast, check out the supporting articles when they appear, and then cast your vote and email your MP afterwards using our tool, to let them know why you think what you do.

I voted: NoThe Liberal government was quick to illegally enact an emergency measures act against peaceful protesters in Ottawa . Now we have aggressive and threatening protesters in the streets of many Canadian cities and Trudeau cowers from acting appropriately !! Likely because he is afraid to upset this voting sector ! Shame on him and ALL the MPs that won't speak up !!!

I voted: NoThe rise in antisemitism is abhorrent. Police are not doing enough to shut down and punish the perpretrators. The liberal management of criminal activity is far too light and I urge you to stand up for the Jewish people of this country. Enough is enough.

I voted: NoHamas made the first strike by raping women and beheading babies and taking 1,000 persons hostage. The Palestinians only had to give up Hamas to Israel.

I voted: NoI am shocked to see the rise of anti-semitism on the streets of the formerly peaceful Canada, and even more shocked to see that nothing is being done about it, except for a few manufactured words of faux outrage from our PM.

He was quick to stamp out the peaceful protest of hard-working, freedom-fighting Canadians, yet to the rise of anti-Semitism he merely shrugs. The government needs to do better, much better, to buckle down on the hate spewers, many if not most of whom are from Trudeau's favoured demographic.

By the way, why wasn't the imam from Victoria, who was caught on hidden camera preaching hate against Jews and other "infidels" not arrested and charged with hate speech? Still waiting...

I voted: No

When I see the violent rhetoric at these protests , the police just stand there and do nothing. This is hate speech.

I voted: No

This hate trend  has to stop. Those involved should be fined or jailed depending on the severity of their actions.
