Canada's Carbon Tax
Posted on March 29, 2024
You would have to live under a rock in this country if you haven’t heard the clarion call, “Axe the tax!’
The federal government’s latest increase to the carbon tax is set to rise on April 1st. First introduced in 2019 at $20 a tonne, the latest increase will see it rise from $65 a tonne to $80 a tonne. Has it become Politicized?
Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre calls it a 23% increase. The Liberals point out it’s about 3 cents a litre.

I voted: YesI receive the CCR because my province chose to abandon its Cap&Trade system in 2018. The Consumer Price on Pollution is literally THE LEAST we can do. In 2018 Ontario’s electricity generation was 96% carbon neutral, now we have fallen back to 87%. Why? Because Doug Ford gave up on green energy and allowed Gas Power Plants to run all the time vs only as backup.
I want you as my MP to support the “Carbon Tax”. I’m not ok being gaslit by you and your party.
I voted: Nojust because I try to be proactive and move money out of my RRSP it brings me out of the income of the carbon tax rebate. I think this is flawed and anyone that purchases fuel or oil products should be entitled to the rebate. im tired of paying and al I get is bloated over paid politicians that care little about the middle income earner and only about themselves as is evident with the extension of the federal election by two weeks so those that lose their job after that election can collect a pension. If that's the case then everyone should get the carbon rebate.
I voted: YesI do receive the carbon rebate, but I am with Pierre on this, Axe the Tax for sure, it is nothing but a tax grab and no one gets more than they spend and if they did then why collect it at all, doesn't make any sense, it is simply to put people in the poor house, and you can bet your boots that the homeless don't get it and they certainly need all the help they can get. More people are doing without, myself included due to this tax, everything is more expensive putting more people at risk of bankruptcy and street living, we don't need any more of our money going to Trudeau and friends, I begrudge them every cent.
I voted: UnsureThere is a possibility I may receive something in my wife’s name but she has been unable to ascertain if that is the case or not. I thought perhaps if your household income was more than $40,000 here in BC you were ineligible. I have been unable to confirm anything concrete. When I go to a website that I can figure out for myself if I have a rebate it asks for information that I don’t have here at home. That being my tax return information which is at my accountant’s. It all seems a bit complicated to me. If the government makes it purposely complex I believe they are indeed trying to hide the fact that we get nothing.
